My first attempt at a new rendering/art style was inspired by various online artists' rendering techniques.
The intention was to capture something unique to me, to truly represent my personality in a visual way that was not inaccurate.
Calling back to my childhood inspirations, such as Western cartoons and anime, I wanted to harken back to a cartoonish, distorted version of myself, all the while keeping in line with my facial proportions.
The linework's thick and sketch-like quality was partly inspired by graffiti culture and the use of thick, bubbly outlines. The white outline was added to help reinforce this idea while separating the figure (me) from the background.
Pink and Blue have been my favorite colors for as long as I can remember. The high contrast between the two colors has always attracted me to them. I was particularly inspired by the CMYK color printing methods, which add a sort of chromatic aberration to the edges of the piece using these two colors.
