Printmaking has been a medium I have always been keenly interested in. Middle school art class was my first foray into linoleum carving and print-making as a whole. When presented the opportunity in one of my art classes at Howard Community College to do an art piece that features print-making, I jumped at the opportunity.
The inspiration for this to create impressions in the vague shape of people. Deeply Inspired by the study of psychology and its usage of Rorschach Inkblots, I used this as a foundation for the stamp. From there I re-created a scene from my childhood, of staring out the back of a moving car, witnessing the city stress to either side of me and the road fading back into obscurity. Hence the title "Urban Mindscape."
The piece serves its Rorschach imagery well ultimately fulfilling the same purpose as a traditional Rorschach ink-blot by leaving the imagery up to the viewer's interpretation.
